The younger generation has a high level of dependence as smartphone users. Most people use this device for more than an hour every day. However, there are studies that report that young men who frequently use smartphones have the potential to have low sperm counts. Even the concentration of sperm is reduced.
Relationship between Young Men as Smartphone Users and Low Sperm Counts
The Independent reports that there have been studies that prove smartphone use by young men can reduce sperm count. The study was carried out by researchers from the University of Geneva (UNIGE). However, the study did not report a correlation between the device and low sperm morphology and motility. The study studied variables in various environments and lifestyles. Observations were carried out for more than 50 years and explained that electromagnetic radiation was the main cause of the decline in cement quality. The study results also proved that sperm concentration was greater in the group of men who only used smartphones once a week. The average sperm concentration is around 56.5 million per milliliter. Meanwhile, men who use smartphones 20 or more times a day only have a sperm concentration of around 44.5 million per milliliter.
This study proves that there is a 21% decrease in sperm concentration for men who use smartphones too often. Sperm concentrations in men should not continue to decrease when they want to have children. If the sperm concentration decreases to less than 15 million per milliliter, it will take more than one year to be able to have children. Domestic life will have a decreased number of pregnancies with a decrease in sperm concentration to a limit below 40 million per milliliter. In fact, many studies also explain other modern lifestyles that cause a decrease in the concentration and quality of men’s sperm, such as pesticide-ridden foods and unhealthy lifestyles. The unhealthy lifestyle in question is something like drinking alcohol and smoking a lot. Stress can also be a cause of decreased sperm concentration, according to research.
There is also research that proves that 2G networks are more dangerous than 4G networks. This was conveyed by Professor Martin Roosli, who works at the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute. He said that all countries in the world were transitioning from 2G to 3G networks, then 3G to 4G. In fact, most countries have also made the transition to 5G networks and beyond.
